Toniebox 2 - How It Works

It’s a great fit for any kid aged 1-12+.

Toniebox Lite is our smaller audio player, which was made for easy listening. It works with all Tonies, has a sleep timer, connects to Bluetooth headphones and charges in the same way. The Toniebox 2 does everything the Toniebox Lite does, but gives kids even more ways to listen, play and explore. It can play Tonieplay games, has a dynamic light ring that doubles up as a night light, and comes with a squishy exterior.

Will the Toniebox 2 fit into my existing carrying case or bag?
Your Toniebox 2 fits perfectly in the tonies® Carrying Case and in the tonies® Listen & Play Bag.
Just a heads-up though – you may not be able to charge it while it’s in some carriers/bags because of the updated charging connection.

What charging cable is included?
A charging cable that is 22cm long is a mandatory requirement to meet child safety standards for little listeners aged 1+. More info.

Can I use a different cable?
For older listeners aged 3+ you use any suitable USB-C cable you have at home, or pick up a longer cable.

What kind of plug adapter does the Toniebox 2 use?
You can use any suitable plug or charger you have for USB-C. You can also plug Toniebox 2 into your phone or laptop to charge. For best results, use a power supply between 5–15 watts (5V, max 1.5A). For more info, check the Warning & Safety instructions in the manual.

What is the Toniebox 2 made of?
The Toniebox 2 is wrapped in a soft and super durable fabric made from a mix of PVC and cotton. The ears are made from flexible silicone, perfect for little hands. The platform is crafted from sturdy polycarbonate, while the frame underneath is made from strong, kid-friendly ABS plastic.

What charger do I need for Toniebox Lite?
A certified USB-C cable will do the trick

Why isn’t a charging cable included with Toniebox Lite?
The Toniebox Lite requires a standard USB-C cable. You can use any certified cable you probably already have at home. To ensure you use the correct cable, more details are available in the Warnings & Safety section of the Toniebox Lite manual.

What type of battery does Toniebox Lite have?
It's powered by a 4 Ah Lithium iron phosphate battery (also called LiFePo4). These batteries are highly durable, known for exceptional safety, ultra-fast charging, and a long lifespan.

What material is the cover made from?
The squishy covers we sell separately are made from 100% silicone.

Yes. If you already own any Tonies, they'll work with the Toniebox Lite in exactly the same way as any other Toniebox. Just a heads up that Tonieplay games aren't compatible though. If you want to play Tonieplay games, you'll need a Toniebox 2.

No. The Toniebox Lite is a more compact player, so isn't compatible with Tonieplay. If you want to play Tonieplay games, you'll need a Toniebox 2.

That’s a good question! It depends on your needs as a family and the age of your little listener, but we always recommend starting with a Toniebox bundle with 3 or more Tonies to get your listening adventure started. It’ll keep them entertained for hours.

Can I add the Toniebox 2 or Toniebox Lite to my existing household or is a new / second one required?
You can add your Toniebox 2 or Toniebox Lite to your existing tonies® account and household. Just follow the steps in the app.

Do I have to consider / adjust anything in the tonies App when adding a new Toniebox?
Nope. Just add the new Toniebox to your account and you’ll be able to see all the new functions and features available with Toniebox 2 and/or Toniebox Lite on that Toniebox’s page.

What operating system do I need in order to use the tonies app?
To use the tonies® app, you’ll need Android 7.0 or higher, or iOS 15.6 and above on your iPhone.

Do the Toniebox 2 and Toniebox Lite have bluetooth compatibility?
Yes! Bluetooth helps connect the Toniebox 2 & Toniebox Lite to your smartphone during setup, making things faster and easier so you they can start playing sooner.

Do I need to charge the Toniebox when I first unpack it?
The Toniebox arrives partially pre-charged so they can get started right away.

How do I charge the Toniebox 2 and how long does it take?
Toniebox 2 uses a USB-C charger for charging.To keep everyone safe and sound, please only use certified USB chargers, as the Toniebox cannot detect faults in the power supply. This applies to both USB-A and USB-C wall chargers. For a full charge, pop it on the charger for at least 3 hours and you’ll be ready for hours of listening fun.Need a quick boost? Just 10 minutes of charging gives your Toniebox 2 up to 45 minutes of playtime – perfect for one more story before heading out.

What features of the Toniebox can I customize via the app?
You can personalise their Toniebox listening experience with the app. Along with still being able to set the max volume and change the direction of the fast-forward/rewind tap there are loads of great new features!

New features include:
Set a Sunrise Alarm with custom time, volume and tone
Create a bedtime routine with the Sleep Light with Timer and wind-down settings
Adjust the brightness of the dynamic Light Ring

Does the Toniebox and app function differently for 1+ products vs. 3+ products?
For safety reasons, some of the Toniebox 2’s features are limited in 1+ mode.The tonies® app also shows different settings for 1+ and 3+ modes.
